A Few Stories

Cussing Up A Storm by Ashlee
I grew up in a really small town where people rode horses as a means of transportation, cops would pull you over to ask how your doctors appointment went instead of to give you a ticket, you knew everybody by their first name, and saying a cuss word here and there was merely a form of accurate communication. In fact, when my uncle was called as the bishop of his ward, he was known as 'The Cussing Bishop' and when my grandpa was called as our Stake Patriarch, he was (and still is) known as 'The Cussing Patriarch'. So naturally I grew up hearing cuss words as often as any other word, and it wasn't until I moved away that I realized 'damn' and 'hell' were bad words.

So, Collin came to pick me up for a date one time, and I had been standing outside waiting for him. It was blistering outside and he couldn't have come soon enough. As I hopped in his truck I said "it's hotter than hell out there". I didn't think anything of it until I looked over at Collin's face. It was bright red with shock and embarrassment, and he was speechless. Needless to say, I now know that hell is a bad word and I have made a very large effort to clean up my language. At least when Collin's around. :)

The Love Boat by Ashlee
Our honeymoon was our wedding gift from Collin's parents and they went all out! We had an elaborate trip to California planned, complete with Broadway shows, theme parks galore, beach time, and what was to be the most amazing part; a night along on a yacht with a chauffeured sailing trip of the harbor the following morning. We were so excited for it all, but the night on the yacht had us giddy as school girls. There was going to be delicious food, a terribly romantic atmosphere, a nice man to meet us at the boat who would show us around and then leave us be, and it was going to be magical! So when we pulled up to the harbor, and saw our captain Don, things were looking good!

Don showed us around the boat, told us to make ourselves at home, we unpacked and things were incredible! That is until Don took his own advice, and made himself at home. He pulled up a chair, turned on tv, made himself a snack, and NEVER LEFT!!! Don stayed there the entire night! It was a nightmare! So we spent the 1st night of our honeymoon with captain Don. It wasn't quite as magical or dreamy as we had imagined, but it sure made for a great memory.
